A measured building survey is the process of delivering detailed, accurate drawings of a building, including its dimensions, elevations, and features. It delivers floorplans of the existing structure.

Why is it required?

  • Renovations and Extensions: To ensure new structures or additions seamlessly integrate with the existing building.
  • Refurbishments: To plan and execute renovations efficiently, avoiding costly mistakes.
  • Legal and Insurance Purposes: Provides documentation for legal or insurance claims.

Steps Involved in a Measured Building Survey

  1. Initial Site Visit: One of our surveyors visits the property to assess its complexity and determine the necessary scope of work.
  2. Data Collection: Using advanced surveying equipment, (Planoka uses advanced laser scanners) the surveyor or architect will collect detailed measurements of the building’s exterior and interior.
  3. Data Processing: The collected data is processed using specialized CAD software to create accurate 2D and 3D drawings.
  4. Delivery: Generated Floorplans are delivered to customer/architect, typically within 7 days.

A Measured Survey is only required if you are not able to provide any existing 2D drawings. Estate agents will often have 2D drawings of your property which would be suitable for our designers to work from.

Another source for existing drawings is council planning portals, which often have submitted drawings from previous owners who applied for planning permission for work on your property. These will also do. 

Allow 7-14 days. We have an internal target of 60 hours from Design Session to producing your first draft designs. Our designers are often even quicker than this. 

Assuming you are available to give us feedback on the draft designs, and any amendments we should make, there is no reason the entire process from draft to final design should take longer than 10 days.  

We offer all-inclusive rates for your drawings and renders. There are no hidden fees to our service. We offer full transparency and our prices are inclusive of VAT. 

If you require additional services outside of drawings e.g. interior design, construction, or financing, please discuss this with your Planoka consultant.

Our team will prepare your drawings for submission to the council, free of charge.

You would pay the relevant admin fee for your account directly to your local council.

You get up to 3 full revisions, free of charge with each order.

A “revision” can have unlimited changes. Whilst it rarely happens, any changes beyond this will be charged an additional fixed fee.
